Minister for Foreign Affairs and Trade
Current: Re-elected to the 10th National Parliament for the same seat as a United Party Candidate. Appointed Minister for Foreign Affairs and Trade in the O'neill-Abel cabinet following the formation of the 10th Parliament in August 2017, 2nd Term in this Parliament.
Past: First elected to the 9th National Parliament for the Wapenamanda Open Electorate seat in the 2012 General Elections as an United Party candidate. Appointed Minister for Foreign Affairs and Immigration in the O'Neill-Dion cabinet following formation of government in August 2012.
Primary Education: Completed his Primary Education at Wamapisa Primary School
Secondary Education: Completed his Secondary Education from Lutheran Secondary School- Pausa
Tertiary Education: Completed his Tertiary Education from University of Papua New Guinea then to Legal Training Institute
Achievements: Graduated with a Bachelor in Law Degree from the University of Papua New Guinea in 1986, then to Legal Training Institute. Awarded the winner of PNG Short Story Writing and Poetry Competition sponsored by institute of PNG Studies. Awarded an Order of British Empire (OBE) by the Queen of the Common Wealth, Queen Elizabeth the Second in recognition of Services to Community and Law
Last Occupation Prior to Elections: Employed by Steeles Lawyers, then founded his own practice, Pato Lawyers.
