Current: Re-elected to the 10th National Parliament as the member for Tari-Pori Open Electorate seat in the 2017 General Elections. Leader of Pangu PATI, elected the Prime Minister after the resignation of the former Prime Minister, Hon. Peter O'Neill and sworn in by the Governor General, Sir Bob Dadae on the 30/05/19. He scored 101 votes against Sir Mekere Morauta with only 8 votes. He is the 8th Prime Minister for the Independent State of Papua New Guinea, Minister for Sports, 3rd Term in this Parliament.
Past: First Elected to the 8th National Parliament for the Tari Open Electorate in the 2007 General Elections as an National Alliance Party candidate. Appointed as the Parliamentary Secretary for Works and Transport on the 29/08/2007. Given added responsibilities as Privileges Committee-Deputy Chair and member of Parliamentary Referral Committee on Inter-Government Relations on the 18/09/2007. Appointed Minister for Education on the 16/12/2008 till 2/8/2011. Moved from National Alliance Party to join People's National Congress ranks in February 2012. Re-elected to the 9th National Parliament for the same seat in the 2012 General Elections as People's National Congress candidate. Appointed Minister for Finance in the O'Neill-Abel Cabinet after the formation of Government, leader of Government Business. He then resigned as Minister for Finance on 11th April 2019. He also resigned from the People's National Congress Party on 29th April 2019.

Achievements: Graduated with a Bachelor in Arts Degree from UPNG in 1993, and a Post Graduate Honours Degree in Environmental Science, also from UPNG in 2000.
