Current: Re-elected to the 10th National Parliament for same seat in the 2017 General elections as a United Resources Party Candidate, Party Leader of the United Resource Party, appointed Minister for Commerce & Trade following a cabinet reshuffle on 8/11/19 under the Marape-Steven Government, 4th term in this Parliament.
Past: First elected in to the 7th National Parliament in the 2002 General Elections for the Hagen Open seat as an Independent Candidate then joined United Resources Party. Commissioned Minister for Environment and Conservation in the Somare/Marat cabinet on the 2/8/2003. Re-elected to the 8th National Parliament in the 2007 General Elections for the same seat as a United Resources Party candidate. Appointment as Minister responsible for Petroleum and Energy, Environment and Conservation, and Justice and Attorney-General in the caretaker cabinet on the 13/8/2007. Commissioned Minister for Petroleum and Energy in the Somare-Temu cabinet on the 29/8/2007. Appointed Minister for Petroleum and Energy on the 5/8/2011 in the O'Neill-Namah cabinet. Re-elected to the 9th National Parliament in the 2012 General Elections for the same seat as a United Resources Party candidate. Re-appointed Minister for Petroleum and Energy in the O'Neill-Dion cabinet in August 2012. Decommissioned as minister of state on 24/2/2014. Appointed Minister for Public Enterprises and State Investments following the formation of the O'Neill-Abel Government on the 02/08/2017 til May 2019.
Tertiary Education: Completed Tertiary Education from University of Papua New Guinea (1987), and University of Sydney, Australia
Achievements: Earned a Bachelors in Law Degree from the University of Papua New Guinea in 1987 and later a Masters Degree in Law from the University of Sydney.
Last Occupation Prior to Elections: Practiced as a barrister and solicitor of the National and Supreme Courts of Papua New Guinea.
