Current: Re-elected to the 10th National Parliament for the Alotau Open electorate in the 2017 General Elections as a PNC Candidate. Resigned from the PNC Party and currently affiliated with Our Development Party as the Party Leader, 3rd Term in this Parliament.
Past: First Elected to the 8th National Parliament for the Alotau Open Electorate in the 2007 General Elections as an Independent candidate then joined the National Alliance Party. Appointment Minister for Culture and Tourism in the Somare-Temu cabinet on the 29/8/2007 till resignation from government in July 2010 to join the Morauta led opposition. Appointed Minister for Trade, Commerce and Industry on 5/8/2011 in the O'Neill-Namah cabinet. Re-elected to the 9th National Parliament for the Alotau Open Electorate in the 2012 General Elections as a People`s National Congress Party candidate. Appointed Minister for National Planning in the O'Neill-Dion cabinet August 2012- April 2017. Appointed Deputy PM and Minister for Treasury following the formation of the O'Neill-Abel cabinet from August 2017-May 2019. Appointed Minister for Finance & Rural Development in the Marape-Steven Government on 07/06/19, decommissioned on 08/11/19 following a cabinet re-shuffle.
Secondary Education: Completed Secondary Education at Immanuel Lutheran College, Maroochydore, Queensland
Tertiary Education: Completed Tertiary Education from University of Queensland (class of 1989)
Achievements: Obtained a Bachelors degree in Economics from the University of Queensland (class of 1989). He is an Accountant by profession.
Last Occupation Prior to Elections: Financial controller with Global Constructions, Ipili Porgera Investments and businessman in Milne Bay prior to 2007 Elections.
