Current: Member of Parliament for Kandep Electorate,

Past: First elected in to the 7th National Parliament in the 2002 General Elections for the Kandep Open seat as a National Alliance Party Candidate. Appointed Minister for Transport and Civil Aviation on the 13/8/2002 following the formation of the Somare/Marat government. Given added responsibility as Minister for Higher Education, Research, Science and Technology on the 26/7/2005 till 26/1/2006, then reinstated on the 23/7/2006 (G123, 2006). Appointed Deputy Prime Minister on the 7/7/2006 [G135 of 2006] while retaining Transport and Civil Aviation, and relinquishing Higher Education, Research, Science and Technology portfolios. . Appointment as Minister responsible for Works, Public Services, Culture and Tourism in the caretaker cabinet on the 13/8/2007. Appointed as Minister for Works and Transport and Civil Aviation in the Somare-Temu cabinet on the 29/8/2007 till 14/8/2009. Disqualified from parliament by national court on 14/08/2009. Re-elected for same seat in by-election in December 2009 and reappointed Minister for Works, Transport and Civil Aviation in January 2010 till December 2010. Deputy Prime Minister from July to December 2010. Appointed Minister for Foreign Affairs, Trade and Immigration in December 2010 till 2/8/2011. Appointed Minister for Treasury and Finance on the 5/9/2011 in the O'Neill-Namah cabinet
