Past: First elected in to the 7th National Parliament in the 2002 General Elections for the Hagen Open seat as an Independent Candidate then joined United Resources Party. Commissioned Minister for Environment and Conservation in the Somare/Marat cabinet on the 2/8/2003. Re-elected to the 8th National Parliament in the 2007 General Elections for the same seat as a United Resource Party candidate. Appointment as Minister responsible for Petroleum and Energy, Environment and Conservation, and Justice and Attorney-General in the caretaker cabinet on the 13/8/2007. Commissioned Minister for Petroleum and Energy in the Somare-Temu cabinet on the 29/8/2007. Appointed Minister for Petroleum and Energy on the 5/8/2011 in the O'Neill-Namah cabinet. Re-elected to the 9th National Parliament in the 2012 General Elections for the same seat as a United Resource Party candidate. Re-appointed Minister for Petroleum and Energy in the O'Neill-Dion cabinet in August 2012 to March 2014
