Past: : First elected in to the 7th National Parliament in the 2002 General Elections for the Aitape-Lumi Open seat as an Independent Candidate then joined the National Alliance Party. Appointed Minister for Forestry on the 13/8/2002 following the formation of the Somare/Marat government, and Leader of Government Business in May 2004. Given added responsibilities as Minister for Lands and Physical Planning on the 3/8/2004 following Petrus Thomas resignation from cabinet, till the 7/1/2005, then more added responsibilities as Minister for National Planning and Monitoring following the resignation of Authur Somare as a minister of state on the 27/1/2006 to 23/6/2006, and Minister for Finance from the 3/4/2006 to 23/6/2006. Endorsed National Alliance Party candidate for the Aitape-Lumi Open seat in the 2007 General Elections. Re-elected to the 8th National Parliament in the 2007 General Elections for the same seat as a national Alliance Party candidate. Appointment as Minister responsible for Treasury and Finance and Forestry in the caretaker cabinet on the 13/8/2007. Appointed Minister for Treasury and Finance in the Somare-Temu cabinet on the 29/8/2007 till suspension from parliament to face Leadership Tribunal in June 2010. Re-elected to the 9th National Parliament in the 2012 General Elections for the same seat as a National Alliance Party candidate. Appointed Minister for Forest and Climate Change in the O'Neill-Dion cabinet following formation of government in August 2012.
