Current: Member of Parliament for Kompian-Ambun Open and Minister for Environment & Conservation

Past: First elected to the 5th National Parliament for the Kompiam-Ambum Open seat in the 1992 general elections. Appointed Public Accounts Committee-Deputy Chair on the 24/11/1992 till 9/6/1994, member of the Broadcasting of Parliamentary Proceedings Committee from 11/8/1992 to 8/9/1994 and the Parliamentary Referral Committee on Primary Resources from 8/6/1994 till 8/9/1994. Other appointments include memberships on the Bi-Partisan Select Committee on Provincial Governments on the 17/3/1993, and the Parliamentary Referral Committee on Justice, Private Business Committee-Deputy Chair and Public Works Committee on the 8/9/1994. Re-elected to the 6th National parliament in the 1997 general elections for the same seat. Elected Speaker on the 22/7/1997 till resignation on the 13/7/1999. Founded and elected Leader of Advance Papua New Guinea Party (APP) in May 1999. Appointed Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Women, Youth and Churches in the Morauta government from July till APP's exit from government in December 1999. Appointed Minister for Lands and Physical Planning following APP's re-entry into the Morauta led government in April 2000. Disbanded APP on the 29/04/01 to merge with P.D.M. Named Minister for Foreign Affairs on the 17/05/01 following a cabinet reshuffle of the Morauta government. Decommissioned as minister on the 31/10/2001, and subsequently left P.D.M. Formed and led the Papua New Guinea Revival Party into the 2002 General Elections as its parliamentary leader. Re-elected to the 8th National Parliament in the 2007 General Elections for the same seat as a National Advance Party candidate. Appointed Foreign Affairs and Defence Committee-Chair on the 18/09/2007, then Minister for Mining in July 2010 till 2/8/2011.
